University of Utah Stadium Branding
Environmental branding and stadium graphics for the University of Utah, energizing Rice-Eccles Stadium with bold, high-impact visuals worthy of a Pac-12 program.
The Ken Garff Performance Zone was a significant addition to Utah Football's facilities, and the media work that went into it was every bit as involved as the construction itself. I was tasked with developing content across a wide range of displays and contexts throughout the space, each one with its own requirements, dimensions, and purpose. It was one of the more logistically complex projects I've taken on, and one of the most rewarding.
Projections and digital signage
The bulk of the work was developing animations and media for the facility's full screen projections and digital signage throughout the space. Each display had its own context as some were ambient and atmospheric, others were more informational so the content had to be developed with that variety in mind. Helmets and logos were modeled and textured in Blender, then composited and animated in After Effects, which gave everything a polished, dimensional quality that flat design alone wouldn't have achieved.
Ty Jordan Memorial Portal
Following Ty Jordan's tragic passing in 2020, we began working on ways to honor the budding young star. I was tasked on developing was a logo that could be utilized as a symbol the pay respect to Ty. The logo would be used as patches, decals, and on other mediums. The logo features his #22 forming a heart around the abbreviation for 'Long Live Ty Jordan'. During the Weber State game to open the 2021 Season, with his family in attendance we unveiled murals located in Portal 22 of Rice-Eccles Stadium. The murals feature his incredible stats as well as a way to donate to the Ty Jordan Scholarship fund.
Locker room signage
Rounding out the project was the design of the locker room signage. This work lived alongside the players every day rather than in a high-traffic public space, so the approach was less about spectacle and more about building something that felt personal
