Wyoming Helmet Project
Digital showcase and database of football helmets worn in the state of Wyoming on all levels.
This is an ongoing project that started for me nearly a decade ago and one that I've recently begun to revamp. It's an effort to catalog and render every football helmet in the state of Wyoming both digitally and in 3D as a single living archive.
Where it stands
The project currently lives on Instagram as @wyohelmets, where roughly three quarters of the helmet work is already posted. The primary focus right now is Wyoming's high school programs, with plans to eventually expand into University of Wyoming helmets as well. Each helmet is being rendered digitally and in 3D, with the goal of building the most complete visual record of Wyoming football helmet history in one place.
Where it's going
The helmet catalog is just the foundation. The longer vision for this project is a full archive of historical stats, program histories, a blog, predictions, polls, and more. It's a passion project, and it's moving at a passion project's pace, but the foundation is solid and there's a lot more coming. Worth keeping an eye on.
